T. J. Eubanks, a 2015 graduate of Rains High School was presented a $750 scholarship by the Lake Country Classics Car Club this week. Mr. Eubanks is attending the North Texas Community College Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology program. He is the son of Jeff and Marianne Eubanks.
Club President Darrell Slabaugh presented a certificate to Mr. Eubanks and the check to Tony Whitworth, an instructor at the College. In addition Whitworth and Eubanks presented an informative program about the Shelby school. They emphasized the importance of ethics and customer service while acquiring the knowledge to maintain modern complex automotive vehicles.
Eubanks recently provided leadership for an open house at the school which allowed testing of high performance vehicles on the school’s Dynamometer. Three members of Lake Country Classics Car Club attended the event and had their vehicles tested. Club members were invited back for additional testing and the opportunity to work with the students. A fall cruise to visit the school will be scheduled for club members.
The Lake Country Classic Car Club provides annual scholarships to area high school graduates who plan a career in the automotive field and plan to receive additional training beyond high school to prepare for a career in automotive related work.
Scholarships are awarded from proceeds made from the Clubs Sixth Annual Classics Car Show held at the Mineola Civic Center last September.
The Lake Country Classic Car Club meets monthly on the third Monday at the Oakridge Marina Restaurant just south of the Lake Fork Bridge on highway 154. Annual membership dues are $25. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings and may receive more information by contacting Club President Darrell Slabaugh at email@example.com.
